Building Surveyor Job in London

Great opportunity for a Building Surveyor to join a reputable international Architectural Practice based in Southeast London, working on exciting heritage and conservation projects in predominantly London. The role offers a competitive salary, 25 days holiday and progression opportunities as the department continues to grow successfully.

The Architectural practice was founded in the 1940’s and has grown to over 250 people across 11 UK offices. They have established themselves as an industry leader in planning advice, heritage consultancy, building surveying, conservation and contemporary architecture. Working with public bodies, charities, trusts, private companies, contractors, developers and individuals, they have been involved in the care and development of some of the best-loved buildings and in the UK and abroad. To be considered for the role of Building Surveyor you must have experience in heritage and conservation projects and preferably chartered MRICS.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Conduct Building Surveys of complex repair and refurbishment projects, sometimes with the use of specialist equipment such as drones
  • Defect diagnosis
  • Specification of works
  • Oversee and advise on the stages and programming of construction works
  • Party Wall advice
  • Dilapidation surveys
  • Cost estimating
  • Contribute to the further growth of the surveying services/team

Required Skills & Experience

  • Preferably MRICS (MCIOB also considered)
  • IHBC is desirable
  • Heritage/conservation project experience
  • Direct experience of complex repair and refurbishment projects
  • Delivery of building surveys for heritage assets
  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant technical standards and statutory requirements
  • In-depth knowledge of building decay processes and repair techniques
