Some exciting news has arrived for any film fans based in Reading! Hollywood studio, Blackhall Studios have revealed plans to build a new complex worth £150m at the Thames Valley Science Park in Reading, UK.
The plans to develop the “largest purpose-built film studio in the UK have now been put forward and will be officially submitted to Woking Borough Council this year with a plan to open the studio set in 2022. This isn’t just exciting for film lovers, but mainly for job seekers as it has been said that this could create up to 3000 new jobs.
Blackhall Studios have said that they will be investing £500m a year in the complex, which would produce roughly five to seven movies a year and create 1,500 jobs on-site.
In case you weren’t familiar with Blackhall Studios, the company has produced some pretty famous movies such as Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Venom, and Jumanji: The Next Level.
Ryan Millsap, Chairman and CEO of Blackhall said: “We are excited to be establishing a base in the UK.
“Blackhall is the global standard for entertainment production space and our US-based clients like Disney, Universal and Sony are all asking us to expand into the UK to meet their desire to create productions here.
“We hope that the site at Thames Valley Science Park will be the start of a series of investments in the UK which will see investment in jobs, training and the creative arts across a range of disciplines.”
