London based Developer, British Land, have submitted a planning application for the next major office scheme at the Broadgate towers development in London.
The 2 Finsbury Avenue (2FA) project was designed by Danish architect 3XN and will be a net carbon office project. It will consist of a large podium supporting a 22-storey West Tower as well as a 37-storey East Tower. It will also include a stunning podium top winter garden on the 13th floor between the East and West towers.
It is expected that Sir Robert McAlpine will be the main contractor for the project after having signed a framework deal with British Land to deliver the phased redevelopment of Broadgate a few years ago.
The client professional team is also said to include Ramboll as the structural and services engineer, with Gardiner & Theobald as project manager and FMDC, the facade consultant.
In accordance with British Land’s sustainability strategy, the building will aim for net-zero carbon in construction and operation as well as a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ certification.
To achieve this ambitious goal, a series of forward-thinking environmental initiatives will be incorporated.
The offices have been co-designed with behavioral scientists from GXN and interspersed with healthy, green areas and terraces to ensure there is flexibility for current and future needs. There are also multiple large open glazed spaces included within the office design.
A central element of the design is a new public route under the building that will extendFinsbury Avenue to create a new route from Eldon Street to Sun Street via Finsbury Avenue Square – Very exciting!
