With global warming becoming a serious issue with our planet and the majority of people wanting to do better for the environment it’s nice to see some positive plans taking place to enforce a better environment for our future, especially in target areas such as London.

Designed by Architect Eric Parry, the project is planned to be the UK’s ‘tallest hanging garden’ at 50 Fenchurch Street, for the Clothworkers’ Company and will have the appearance of a hanging garden across the facade. The project is said to be 62,000 sq m and will include a replacement Livery Hall, public viewing terrace at level 10, winter gardens, a new office building and significant new public realm and will be based around a restored Garde I church tower. The firm plan to restore both Grade I and II listed buildings, with the Grade I Listed Tower of All Hallowers being set within a new street-level public realm and the Grade II Lambe’s Chapel Crypt will become accessible to the public.

Capital Real Estate Partners will be acting as the development manager for the Livery Company scheme and the façade will include bespoke ceramic cladding at ground level, a seamless glazed podium level and a crafted glass detail on the upper levels of the building.

Architect Eric Parry said: “The design journey of this urban proposition has been one of the most remarkable alignments between commerce, culture and the public realm that I have experienced”. (1)
